Let's run a marathon (Recap Week 12 of 16)

04/11/2012 by Deanna +

I'm just going to make this week's post short and sweet since I am VERY late with this recap! But week 12, as miserable as it was, is officially in the books. How I’m feeling this week: Pretty bad. I am incredibly sore and tired. Running is starting to become a chore rather than something I enjoy. At least for this week anyway.  What I ran this week: Tuesday, 4/3: 5.00 miles, 1:01:55 (12:18

Songs to run to, part VII

04/06/2012 by Deanna +

Now that I'm training for a marathon, new music and a good playlist (or a few) is more important than ever. I've been doing a lot of long runs with a friend, so sometimes I forgo my iPod altogether and talk, but sometimes you just need music to pump you up. Especially those last few miles. Let's run a marathon (Recap Week 11 of 16)

04/01/2012 by Deanna +

Oh hey, 18.6 miles. Nice to meet you. You're a lot more painful than I thought you'd be. But nonetheless, I ran you. Yes, yesterday I had ventured further into the unknown at the "Just a Short Run" race. That name is anything but since I did my first 30K. Here's the lowdown of the week, and yesterday's run. How I’m feeling this week: IN PAIN. I'm not going to sugar-coat it. Last week's soreness

The Habits of Highly Effective Young Professionals

03/27/2012 by Deanna +

When I graduated from college, I didn't have a job. Since my junior year at Slippery Rock University, I had wanted to work in an agency and do PR. I had a very specific goal in mind, yet I was nowhere near getting it. I had one internship under my belt, but it was hardly the experience I needed that would resonate with any firm. (I worked in the promotions department of a radio station.) So I

Let's run a marathon (Recap Week 10 of 16)

03/25/2012 by Deanna +

I'm calling week 10 the calm before the storm. It was a light week, and I loved it. Now comes the hard part -- three weeks in a row of LONG runs. 18, 18 and 20 right before taper time. LET'S DO THIS. How I’m feeling this week: SORE. After last week's epic 15-miler, I was feeling it for the next few days. This is what I've been afraid of. But since I have really improved my shin splints with
