What a whirlwind April’s been so far, and it’s only halfway through the month!
Lots of work travel this month, and the first week of April took me to New York to attend the Ragan PR & Media Relations Conference for three days of PR learning in the big apple – my favorite!
Back in November, I actually won attendance to another conference hosted by Ragan in DC, and they put on a great event, so when I was deciding what conference I wanted to attend earlier this year, Ragan seemed like a no-brainer. And they again delivered. Read my highlights over on the PRSA Pittsburgh blog.
Fun in NYC
I try to make time for myself when I travel for work, IF I can, whether that means an early workout or late dinner or drinks. Especially in New York, which I absolutely love. Since this was three days at a conference and not specifically for a client, and since I traveled alone, I was able to take advantage by hitting up a few of my favorite spots: Shake Shack for the best burger and crinkle-cut cheese fries, Soul Cycle for a 7 a.m. spin (E 54th studio) to burn off said Shake Shack, and post-Soul Cycle juice at Juice Generation. I also love Le Pain Quotidien for breakfast or lunch when I’m in NYC or Chicago. All of these are chains and super basic, but I just love them. This Onion article is so me, because I’m always on the hunt for Shake Shack, In-N-Out or Culver’s if I am in a city that has one! I even had time to hit up Zara, and meet friends for dinner, so it was a win.
I managed a quick trip to Brooklyn on the way to the airport, since I’d never been. This was also for food (big shock), since my husband and I LOVE The Pizza Show on Viceland, so I had to hit up Best Pizza in Willamsburg for a coke and a slice (well, I had two slices – one pep, one plain). I love Frank Pinello and was bummed I didn’t see him there, but this little pizza joint was cheap and SO GOOD. Highly recommend if you’re there.
To the next trip!
Love it can’t wait to see you again on your next trip!
