Another month down for half marathon training! February flew by and included a few more outdoor runs (slowly but surely).
How I felt this month:
Still good! Have a lot of energy for my runs and feel good on them, too. Which is so nice. After my last long run this past weekend (7 miles), I did feel some more soreness at the end though in the hips.
What I ran this month:
In February, I logged 38.05 miles, which was 5 more miles from January. Here’s a look at my month:
I’m certainly not an expert, but thinking about my history of adding mileage and what’s happening now with being sore, I think I need to incorporate different TYPES of runs into my training. Basically, every time I run (with the exception of Orange Theory which incorporates lots of different running), I do a tempo run. Been looking at RunnersConnect.net a bit and saw some half marathon workouts to add to your training:

Roadblocks this month:
Similar to last month, cold weather! But those boring treadmill runs had some help because of a fun new app I received via the Pittsburgh Marathon — Zwift. Zwift is a virtual training program that gamifies your experience and connects you with other runners from all over the world. One snowy Sunday, for example, I ran “on the beach.” I would prefer to use my iPad to use this but I can’t fit it on my treadmill. Using my phone was a little tough to see — that was my only complaint. But definitely a fun concept.
Goals and what I am looking forward to in March:
I feel like a broken record, but looking forward to running more outdoors as spring hopefully makes an appearance. Good thing I have Florida to look forward to next week for warmer weather! And, I am going to look into incorporating more of those runs I mentioned above to see if that helps my soreness or improves my speed.
Fun updates from the Dick’s Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon:
So many new and exciting things this month! I received my Zwift pod in my Ready, Set, Move subscription box through P3R. Look how fun it is!
This had all kinds of fitness goodies like Goodr sunglasses, Run 412 stuff and a Brooks beanie. Think Birchbox for runners. Sign up for yours here.
Also, there’s an official P3R Spotify Playlist! You know I love my songs to run to, and this list was curated by fans. It is so good — follow it now. You can still contribute your favorite running song.
