Let’s get into all the things I’m loving this month.
READING
“Little Fires Everywhere.” Finished my first book of 2019. The author grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio and Pittsburgh, and I was born in the Cleveland area and live in Pittsburgh now, so there were so many references I appreciated. Celeste Ng is a fantastic storyteller and writer, but the book dragged out a bit for me and I didn’t like the ending. I gave it a 3 out of 5 on Goodreads. Also, another Reese Witherspoon pick/potential series, so I just gravitate toward what Reese likes!
LISTENING TO
Made a new playlist on Spotify called “Post-Yoga Vibes.” I work out in the mornings except I always do hot yoga at night since I think it’s a good way to end the day and destress before bed. To keep the zen vibe going on my way home in the car, I created this playlist of chill songs I love. Give it a listen here.
LEARNING
Just joined Women in Digital and am already loving it! The ladies leading the team in Pittsburgh are awesome. Went to my first event at Carney a couple of weeks ago, which was the 2019 digital trends session. A great atmosphere and very conversational. Plus food and drinks! Can’t recommend checking out an event enough.
Speaking of Carney, you have to subscribe to their email The Daily Carnage. Amazing daily email for marketers and a solid Facebook group to boot.
EATING
Had an epic meal at DiAnoia’s this past weekend for an annual Valentine’s night out we do with some other couples. I highly recommend getting a group together and doing the family style meal. SO good and lots of food! That Cacio e Pepe though… Also stayed at the new AC Hotel in the Strip District in Pittsburgh. Cool bar and rooms but nothing too exciting. I like how close it was to grab drinks at Eleven. And then we did 90s night at Belevederes which is ALWAYS a good time.
BUYING
All the beauty things! It’s funny to me how skincare is such a trend right now. That’s because I’ve had a skincare routine since I was about nine years old when I bought my first tub of Noxema!
While I’ve never been brand loyal, I’ve been steadily accumulating Beautycounter over the last year. I don’t have too much of their makeup but love their dew skin moisturizer and have Tint Skin Foundation on my list for my next purchase. I recently bought the Overnight Resurfacing Peel and Countermatch Recovery Sleeping Cream and am loving both. I just love the way their products make my skin feel, and they’ve helped my dry winter skin tremendously. Plus they are not annoying about selling it and it’s safer, more natural products.
I also did an impulse “swipe up” purchase recently from a blogger but it turned out to be good! (Thanks, Liz.) Tula is a Beautycounter competitor and I bought their Brightening Eye Balm (which I see is sold out). I put this stuff under my eyes before I have an early workout class to wake me up, before work, and then if I have an event after work I’ve been using it as a pick-me-up. I love the feel of it. That coupled with a splash of my Evian water spray and I feel refreshed! Going to use both after some upcoming flights, too.
