This past weekend, I visited lovely Baltimore, Maryland for the first time in about 15 years, so needless to say I didn’t remember much about it. Thanks to my last job and their involvement with March of Dimes, I won a silent auction that included two nights stay in a hotel and tickets to the Orioles baseball game.
Friday night, we visited Baltimore’s Little Italy, and had dinner at Da Mimmo’s. This was one of the best dinners! I had mussels, bruschetta, caesar salad and a seafood raviloli that was absolutely delish! Afterwards, we had drinks at Amicci’s almost next door, where they had some good pineapple mint mojitos. I was feelin’ those the next day.
Saturday, we visited the beautiful inner harbor where we took in the sights and the famous Baltimore Aquarium. After we had lunch in Power Plant Live – which I am still unsure of the name.
Later on, I thought I was in Boston when about 5,000 Red Sox fans infiltrated Camden Yards for the Oriole’s game. Let’s just say I’m glad Tom Brady lost the next day…but that’s neither here nor there.
We had great club-level seats and after the game, visited Fell’s Point to check out the bar situation.
All in all, I thought Baltimore was a great city and would definitely go back! Special thanks to my friend and Baltimore native @sbasista for her recommendations. If it wasn’t for the Ravens, I’d give the city an A+!
Hello Football Season
Last Thursday, I was lucky enough to attend the NFL home opener at Heinz Field for the Steelers vs. Titans game. I love football season. Although I love summer, the older I get (and the more I forget about summer vacation, sniff) the more I like fall. I wasn’t always interested in football, either, but moving to Pittsburgh in 1998 was all the push I needed to start liking the Steelers, and eventually football in general. I’m not much of a college football fan, either, although I like watching Pitt games. Apparently, college football is better than the NFL to a lot, but I love the pros. And Heinz Field is one of my favorite places. Although we didn’t do too much tailgating last week, I’ve spent many a consecutive hour sitting in the parking lot drinking beer and eating tailgate food. Even for the pitiful Pittsburgh Pirates I’ve sat in that parking lot. Actually, I’ve spent more time in the parking lot between PNC Park and Heinz Field than I’ve spent at actual baseball games…but that’s another story.
And now, some photos:

Minus me accidentally spilling some beer on the kid in front of me (it’s OK, his parents forgave me) it was a great game. Here’s to a great season and the stairway to SEVEN!
I miss theme songs
Remember theme songs? I do. Once upon a time, I sat down to watch my favorite shows and I could always count on a little tune to make me excited my favorite show was about to come on. Nowadays, it’s talking. Jon & Kate’s show starts with them rambling about their lives with crappy background music. In honor of pre-reality show time, a list of my top-five favorite theme songs of all time. What are yours?
Five: Full House
Oh, Danny Tanner and your crazy cleanliness. Joey with your silly Bullywinkle voice and Uncle Jesse with your hair. I heart Full House and it’s simple theme song…even though Bob Saget is now creepy.

Four: Charles in Charge
This is the 1987-88 theme…the one before that in 1984-85 was that weird slow one, plus I was an infant in ’84 and didn’t appreciate a good theme song yet.

Three: Saved by the Bell
When that bell rang, you knew you were in for a 30-minute treat of high school antics. Tell me you don’t know all the words to this one.

Two: The Golden Girls
Thank you for being a friend. ‘Nuf said.

One: Salute Your Shorts
Is there any explanation for this theme song? This show practically defines my childhood. Enjoy this materpiece! Ug Lee, Ug Lee, Ug Lee…

Honorable mention:
What I've learned from Twitter…one year later
According to Tweet Deck, September 1 marks 365 days of tweeting for me. So, what better way to celebrate than to kick-off my blog one year later?! (View the “About” section for a little bit more about what this blog will entail.)
So, what have I learned about Twitter one year later? A LOT.
First of all, I used to think tweeting about what I was working on for a client, i.e. “Researching new systems in HVAC,” would automatically spark a journalist’s interest and they’d contact me. Yeah, no one really cares that much.
Another thing – I used to get frustrated no one talked to me. Then I realized I need to talk to people first before they talk to me. I tell people now that not engaging the right way on Twitter is the equivalent of walking into a party and sporadically shouting about how great you are. I don’t know about you but I would not be trying to hang out with that person at that party!
So, what else have I learned?
- There is more than one Horny Kitty…and she will follow you.
- I have no shame in unfollowing people that don’t tweet anything of relevance to me.
- Twitter comes second to work. Must remember that when my ADD kicks in.
- Never say on Twitter what you wouldn’t say in real life.
- Never underestimate an opportunity to TwitPic.
- Don’t change your Twitter avatar too much. You will confuse others.
- Family and friends who don’t tweet will never understand, especially when your dad BBMs you “I’m sitting on the patio.”
- @adamkmiec is the only person you need in the Twittersphere.
And now….some past things I’ve tweeted that I like:
