My name is Miles Ritenour and I am about to graduate from Point Park University this spring and I am hitting the dusty road in search of an entry level PR job. People often ask me what my concentration is, but what does that really mean? Sure I want to be a PR pro, but does that mean I have to have something concentration? Well, I like to think of myself as a young modern day PR Renaissance Man then I’m your guy. Just as people considered Leonardo Da Vinci a Renaissance Man because he was an artist, scientist and philosopher, the same goes for me with my PR talents. I can do everything from traditional media pitches and press releases to launching social media campaigns. My colleagues share my sentiments too. I was the 2010 PRSA Pittsburgh Renaissance Scholar of the year (what an appropriate name!) So if you need someone who is young, fresh and has experience with all facets of PR, I am your guy. Just like Da Vinci had a mathematical code for beauty in art, hopefully the key to your PR success can be found in the “Ritenour Code.”
Samantha Howsare

My name is Samantha and I’m a senior public relations major at Penn State University with a minor in English. I have a true passion for PR and am a talented and dedicated student. I look forward to landing a job in PR and working hard with a team to create successful campaigns. In the past four years I’ve held public relations and/or communications-related internships with the Penn State Graduate School Office of Alumni and Public Relations, marketing agency Mr Youth, President Obama’s Presidential Campaign and Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics. All four of these positions gave me valuable experience that will help me excel in my PR career. If given the opportunity to work in PR, I will give everything I have to becoming an effective and successful PR professional that contributes new ideas and outstanding work consistently. I promise that the person who hires me will not be disappointed. In my spare time I love to read, write and watch television. I love current events and spend large portions of my day watching CNN and reading news articles, news magazines and blogs. I can’t get enough of social media and love how it’s changing communications every day and making the world just one large, easily accessible community. I’m well known for my obsessions with Oprah Winfrey and elephants. I’m actually working on reading every book from Oprah’s Book Club list and plan on going on an African safari one day to see wild elephants (because trips to the Pittsburgh Zoo just aren’t enough). My other interests include football, golf, digital scrapbooking, volleyball and magic shows.

You should hire me because…I would be an asset to you. I’m a writer, a creator and an engager. I’m passionate about turning a sentence, I design and come up with ideas in my sleep, and I know the importance of interaction. With a PR degree from Penn State, I possess the knowledge, drive and learning skills to be a great employee. My interested paths include sports PR or an Account Executive in a PR agency. I love connecting with social media, producing creative content, and writing releases and stories to spread the word. Hire me because I want to work for you.

Cody Musser
@StorytellerCody
Hire me because I’m infinitely malleable. I’m not an expert but instead an unyielding student. Emerging trends are my morning coffee. I’m a workhorse and I’ll sweat out the deadlines and catastrophes like my father dug ditches and grandfather heaved coal. My work ethic comes from history. I’ll see beneath the obvious, and dig up the truths that help weave the compelling stories others won’t notice. I’ll lead from the bottom, by example; and, eventually, I’ll lead from the top.

You should hire me because I have passion and drive. I never question if I can get something done, but how. Writing is more than something I do well, but something that I absolutely love. I am a strong communicator, whether it be written or spoken, and a team player. As a Penn State student, I have been highly involved in several student organizations and have held various leadership positions including Account Executive for Penn State’s student-run PR firm, Happy Valley Communications. I have also had the opportunity to gain experience from two summer PR internships. I am dedicated to producing top-quality work and getting the job done. I would love to work for a PR agency, for a health care company or hospital, or for a nonprofit organization.
